Florida journeyman wrestler Donald Haviland, best known as Hack Meyers, was an ECW original, having wrestled for the promotion int he mid-90s. One of the ‘forgotten faces of ECW’, Meyers proclaimed himself the ‘shah’ of ECW and was a cult fan favourite, a hard-working undercard performer who rarely tasted victory. Indeed, Meyers’ job was more often than not to lose, and lose he did. While he may have been granted W’s over those who were on or below his level, he was never afforded a win over one of the bigger stars like Sabu, Too Cold Scorpio or Chris Benoit, all of whom he wrestled on some of ECW’s bigger shows in 95/6. His last ECW appearance was a Loser Leaves Town loss to Scorpio at the 1996 November to Remember (although he briefly returned some time later). Following his run in ECW Meyers continued to wrestle on the Florida independent circuit and also had a hand in training indie star Scoot Andrews and former WWE performer Travis (Tyson) Tomko. He also wrestled in Japan and WCW in the late 90s. Fellow ECW alumni Axl Rotten recently tweeted a picture of Meyers in hospital, asking for his followers to pray for his friend as he was about to undergo brain surgery. Meyers died on December 5th, 2015 from complications stemming from the surgery. He was two days away from his 42nd birthday.
