Back when J.K. Rowling came up with the concept of Harry Potter, she was a single mother living on welfare.
Within the decade she would be richer than she ever thought possible. As of 2016, J.K. Rowling is the only author ever to become an actual, confirmed billionaire.
It makes sense — the Harry Potter books sold in record numbers and spawned a hit movie series. And although Rowling was trying to focus on other projects after the final book, she once again stuck her toe in the Harry Potter pool with the recent release of the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”
Maybe she thinks that $2 billion is a much more magical number than $1 billion.
