Her mother is of Italian, Hungarian and Irish descent, while Chris is African-American with some Irish ancestry. Halsey has two younger brothers, Sevian and Dante. She played the viola, cello and violin until moving on to the acoustic guitar when she was 14 years old.

Ashley Nicolette Frangipane was born on the 29th of September 1994 at Edison, New Jersey, U.S. She is also known by her stage name Halsey and started writing songs at a 17 year old. Frangipane signed a recording contract with Astralwerks in 2014. 

She released her debut EP Room 93 in 2014 and it reached #3 on the US Heatseekers chart. She also released her debut studio album Badlands in 2015. However, the album reached #2 in the United States and Australia and made the Top 10 in Belgium, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. 

Her single ‘New Americana’ reached #18 on the US Alternative charts. Halsey was featured on Justin Bieber’s single ‘The Feeling’ in 2015. She was nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award, a People’s Choice Award and an NME Award. Her career really hit the stratosphere after being the featured vocalist on the 2016 Chainsmokers song ‘Closer’ which hit #1 in more than 10 countries. 

She released a second studio solo album titled Hopeless Fountain Kingdom in 2017. That album debuted at #1 in the US and spawned a number of singles, eventually going platinum. In 2019 Halsey was a featured vocalist on the BTS song ‘Boy with Luv’. The song garnered 75 million views in its first day alone. 

As of this writing the song has more than 500 million views on YouTube alone. She released a single ‘Nightmare’ for an unreleased third studio album in mid-2019. Within a few months alone that song had more than 50 million views.
