And then at about the age of four, her family moved to Ozone Park, Queens. She lived here through her teenage years. She traveled to Canada to escape her abusive dad.

Career 

 Her career spans over 40 years. Her album ‘she’s so unusual’ in 1983 was the first debut by a female musician to reach top-five on the ‘Billboard Hot 100’. songs from the same album earned her a grammy award in the category of ‘Best New Artist’. In  1985, her success continued with the soundtrack for the motion picture ‘The Goonies’. Her records sold 6 million copies in the u.s alone and 16 million round the world. To this day, she has released 11 studio albums and over 40 singles.
