2025 IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) Internship Programme.
IFAD offers six-month internship opportunities to recent university graduates or current students specializing in areas of work relevant to IFAD’s mission. Interns may pursue an additional six-month internship, accessing a different learning experience and broadening their exposure to IFAD’s areas of work.
The internship program provides a monthly allowance. Moreover, to further promote geographic diversity, IFAD offers a higher monthly allowance (contributing to housing and travel expenses) to interns from developing countries who need to travel to their duty stations.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Internship Program is a structured initiative designed to provide young professionals and students with hands-on experience in the field of international development, particularly in areas focused on rural poverty alleviation and agricultural development. This program offers participants the opportunity to gain practical knowledge of IFAD’s operations, engage with experts in development projects, and contribute to impactful initiatives that support rural communities worldwide.

The internship typically lasts for up to six months, during which interns work closely with IFAD teams on various projects aligned with the organization’s mission. Interns may contribute to activities such as research, policy analysis, project design, and program implementation, depending on their academic background and departmental placement. This immersive experience allows interns to develop professional skills while gaining insights into global efforts aimed at fostering rural development and food security.
IFAD supports its interns by providing a monthly stipend to assist with living expenses during the internship. Additionally, interns from developing countries who need to relocate for their internship may receive additional financial support to cover housing and travel expenses, ensuring equal access to the program regardless of geographical or economic background.
