The Faculty will be making available a number of £20,000 bursaries for students accepted for the BCL and MJur. The awards will be allocated on the basis of financial need and students will be invited to apply for these awards, and to submit relevant financial information, when they receive their offer letters for the two programmes.
The Faculty of Law in the University of Oxford is one of the largest in the United Kingdom. It is a federation of thirty law schools in the colleges of the University. Legal scholars in the colleges and University are members of the Faculty, which coordinates and supports the teaching and writing of one hundred fifty three academics. The school admits and support and teach and examine a diverse and outstanding body of students from all parts of the British Isles and from all over the world.
The student-to-faculty ratio is approximately 7:1. Students for the BA in Jurisprudence are typically taught in pair tutorials. A tutorial is an exercise for which the student writes an essay, so that the focus of the meeting is on the student’s own work on the subject.
Eligibility for the BCL/MJur Needs-based International Bursaries:
- Applicants must have high school certificates with an excellent academic record.
- Applicants must be demonstrating financial need.
- Applicants should hold or be predicted to achieve the equivalent of a first-class undergraduate degree with honours in law.
- Applicants must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
- IELTS – 7.5
- TOEFL IBT – 110
- CAE – 191
- CPE – 191
