Established by Ruth and Eber Pollard, former President and Treasurer, respectively, of the Guelph Historical Society during the years 1972 to 1993. This award will be provided to the student who demonstrates a passion for Canadian History and ongoing participation in exercise, wellness, or athletics.
The University of Guelph will provide one award of $1,000 in the fall, and the recipient must be registered to receive it.
The University of Guelph is a comprehensive public research university in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. It was established in 1964 after the amalgamation of Ontario Agricultural College (1874), the MacDonald Institute (1903), and the Ontario Veterinary College (1922), and has since grown to an institution of almost 30,000 students (including those at the Humber campus, Ridgetown campus, off-campus degree enrolments, diploma enrolments and part-time students) and employs 830 full-time faculty (academic staff) as of fall 2019. It offers 94 undergraduate degrees, 48 graduate programs, and 6 associate degrees in many different disciplines.
The faculty at the University of Guelph hold 23 Canada Research Chair positions in the research areas of natural sciences, engineering, health sciences and social sciences. Academic achievements include the first scientific validation of water on Mars, Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer(APXS) on board the Curiosity rover, and the Barcode of Life project for species identification.
Eligibility criteria for the Ruth and Eber Pollard International Scholarship
- Applicants can be Canadian-PR-PP or Non-Canadian-PR-PP.
- Applicants must meet international admission requirements for Undergraduate Programs to study at the university.
- Applicants must meet English Proficiency Requirements for Undergraduate Programs at the University of Guelph.

Method of Application: Applicants must have to take admission in an undergraduate program at the University. After that, applicants must apply by May 15 to the department of History with a letter of up to two pages outlining academic credentials in History and ongoing commitment to exercise and wellness.
