The World Bank Group Africa Fellowship grant is currently accepting applications from young African graduates who are passionate about making a difference in their continent. Young African nationals who are in the process of completing or have recently completed their doctoral degrees in a field that is relevant to the work of the World Bank are the focus of this program.

By participating in a fellowship program that offers such an opportunity, selected fellows are afforded the chance to spend six months gaining hands-on experience in the operations of the World Bank Group. This change is made available to the fellows. This includes the generation and dissemination of new information, the formulation of national and international policies, and the establishment of institutions with the objective of achieving inclusive growth in developing nations.
Not only will fellows have the opportunity to benefit from research and innovation in a variety of fields, but they will also work on research, economic policy, technical assistance, and lending operations that contribute to the goal of the World Bank to eliminate poverty and increase shared prosperity. Fellows will have the opportunity to benefit from research and innovation in a variety of fields.
The program targets young talented African nationals who are completing or have recently completed their Ph.D. in an area relevant to the World Bank’s work. Eligibility Criteria for World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Grant
Applicants for the World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Grant must meet the following requirements to be considered for the World Bank Group Africa Fellowship grant for Young African Graduates:
Applicants must be a recent Ph.D. graduates (within three years of completion) or in their final year of study.
Applicants must have a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
Strong quantitative and analytical abilities are required.
Be under the age of 32 at the time the application period closes.
Fellowship Benefits of World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Grant
Successful applicants selected for the World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Grant will receive the following benefits:
- Fellows are eligible to receive consultant fees and
- Round-trip economy class air travel to Washington, D.C. or a
- WBG country office from their university or institution.
Selection Process for World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Grant
Phase I: A short list of candidates will be made available for hire to the different units of the WBG depending on the applicants’ specialization. Applicants will be notified about the status of their application or whether they have been shortlisted or not.
Phase II:
The final list of fellows will be selected in consultation with the various units of the WBG. When the selection is complete, all shortlisted candidates will be informed of their selection status. Selected candidates will then be notified and, upon acceptance, be hired as short-term consultants for six months starting January 2023
