The YSEALI Professional Fellows Program in the USA in 2024 is a fully funded scholarship that provides a life-changing chance for young professionals in Southeast Asia to boost their leadership abilities and expand their networks. This scholarship program, which is fully paid, seeks to empower participants by immersing them in a four-week intensive fellowship experience.
During this time, applicants will participate in workshops, visit various sites, and receive mentorship opportunities, allowing them to gain valuable insights into fields such as entrepreneurship, governance, and civic engagement. Through this program, participants will not only enhance their professional expertise but also foster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration. Ultimately, the YSEALI Professional Fellows Program equips emerging leaders with the necessary tools to drive positive change in their communities and contribute significantly to the region’s development.
YSEALI Professional Fellows Program
The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellows Program is an esteemed exchange initiative that offers promising leaders from Southeast Asia the chance to receive training and hands-on experience in the United States.
The successfully approved scholars will participate in a six-week fellowship program at host organizations in the United States, where they will acquire hands-on experience in their chosen profession. Scholars will also be able to attend courses and network with American leaders in their respective industries. The YSEALI Professional Fellows Program offers as an ideal outlet for young Southeast Asian leaders to strengthen their talents and establish vital professional networks in the United States.

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellows Programme 2024 in the United States of America is receiving support from the United States of America (USA). The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State.
As part of the Young Southeast Asian Emerging Leaders Initiative Program, emerging leaders from Southeast Asia are provided a unique opportunity to spend five to six weeks in the United States, engaging in relevant fellowship experiences at non-profit organizations, public sector institutions, or private sector companies.
The principal goals of the program are to establish partnerships between emerging leaders in Southeast Asia and the United States; to enhance mutual understanding; to develop the Fellows’ leadership and professional skills; and to strengthen the Fellows’ leadership and professional skills.
Civic engagement, economic empowerment, governance and society, and sustainable development and the environment are the four primary areas of focus that make up the YSEALI Public Finance Programme (YSEALI PFP).
Scholarship Perk
- The program includes international travel and living expenses.
- Fellows will receive assistance from the American Councils to obtain a J-1 visa.
- YESALI PFP covers the visa costs, including travel to the interview.
- YESALI PFP provides emerging health benefits to fellows.
- Fellows will have the opportunity to experience US culture through various activities such as staying with an American family, participating in cultural excursions, or staying with a short-term host family.
How to Apply for YSEALI Professional Fellows Grant :
- Review the Eligibility Criteria: Make sure you meet the program’s requirements, including being a citizen of one of the ASEAN member countries, aged between 25-35, proficient in English, and actively involved in a relevant professional field.

Eligibility Criteria for YSEALI Professional Fellows Grant:
- Applicants must hold citizenship in a Southeast Asian nation and be current residents of that country.
- Candidates should be emerging leaders in their respective fields.
- To be eligible, applicants must have at least two years of professional experience and be currently employed.
- Professionals from any government, civil society, or private sector background are welcome to apply.
- The applicant’s professional experience should be relevant to the selected program themes.
- YSEALI applicants must be between 25 and 35 years old.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English is required.
- Individuals who are citizens of the United States or permanent residents of the United States are not eligible to apply.
