6. Larry David – $800 Million
The mastermind behind “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is doing good. Pretty, PRETTTTAAYYYY good.
For the first several years of his career, Larry David was not a very successful man. In fact, you could call him something of a failed stand-up comic. Working as a cab driver and bra salesman to make ends meet between writing gigs, it seemed like David’s career was stalled.
In 1989, when Larry David was 42, he teamed up with Jerry Seinfeld to create a show then called “The Seinfeld Chronicles.” The show would be picked up, and the title shortened to “Seinfeld,” which would go on to become one of the most successful shows of all time. It ran for 9 seasons and is still shown in syndication all over the world.
Larry David would go on to create “Curb Your Enthusiasm” for HBO, but the majority of his fortune still comes from that sweet, sweet “Seinfeld” money — he gets paid every time it airs (which is a lot), and Hulu just paid $180 million for the right to stream the show, a big chunk of which ended up in Larry David’s pocket.
