He is a Scottish actor. Brian Cox is the youngest of five children and the only son, from a working-class family. At the age of 15, he left school and took up a job at the local theater.  

Brian Cox is best known for his role in the massively successful HBO series Succession. He also gained recognition for portraying the title role in the 1983 film version of King Lear.

Brian Edward Cox was born in Dundee, Scotland on June 1, 1946. From age 17 to 19, he went to drama school at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After graduating, he was accepted with a theater company in Edinburgh, Scotland. 

However, his career gained breakthrough after appearing in the Jason Bourne action-thrillers with Matt Damon.

He went around to several companies. Brian made his debut on the London stage in a production of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It in 1967 and the same year, he made his television debut (as an extra) on the BBC series The Prisoner.

Therafter, Brian landed the lead role in the BBC teleplay The Year of the Sex Olympics. He played the role of ‘Dr. Hannibal Lecktor’ in Michael Mann’s Manhunter in 1986. 

He won an Emmy in 2000 for his role in Nuremberg.

Brian eventually make notable appearances in movies like BraveHeart, Rob Roy, The Ring, Troy, Zodiac, Super Troopers among many others.
