The NCDMB Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is designed to promote the Nigerian Content (NC) initiative and create the awareness for Nigerians to build local capacity to participate effectively in Nigerian’s Oil and Gas industry.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) emerged as a pivotal entity consequent to the enactment of the Nigerian Content Development Act by the National Assembly in 2010, a significant initiative spearheaded by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Board is entrusted with a diverse range of functions, all strategically aligned to bolster the growth and advancement of Nigerian content within the country’s oil and gas sector.
One of its central responsibilities is the supervision, coordination, administration, and vigilant monitoring of the implementation and development of Nigerian content, meticulously outlined in the Act. This comprehensive oversight extends to all participants, encompassing operators, contractors, and diverse entities operating within the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
Furthermore, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board assumes a proactive role in fostering the capacity and capabilities of local contractors and Nigerian companies. By aiding their growth and enhancement, the Board contributes directly to the overarching objective of fostering Nigerian content within the oil and gas industry.
An integral facet of the NCDMB’s purview involves vigilant monitoring and coordination of the Nigerian content performance exhibited by all operators, aligning meticulously with the stipulations of the Act. This meticulous oversight ensures the harmonious realization of the objectives outlined in the Nigerian Content Development Act.
In its unwavering pursuit of the overarching goal of nurturing Nigerian content within the oil and gas sector, the NCDMB actively engages in a spectrum of activities. These encompass the conduct of comprehensive studies, the pursuit of research initiatives, and the undertaking of investigations, all undertaken with the express intention of furthering the development of Nigerian content within the industry.
Committed to fostering a culture of awareness and education, the NCDMB consistently organizes a diverse array of events. These include conferences, workshops, seminars, symposia, training sessions, road shows, and other forums dedicated to public education.
