IRI is now accepting applications to the third cohort of IRI’s McCain Leaders Fellowship for Freedom. The IRI McCain Fellowship for Freedom (MFF) brings together young leaders from around the world to continue the legacy of IRI’s 25-year Chairman Senator John McCain of fostering a new generation of democratic leaders on every continent.
Since 2019, IRI has brought McCain’s vision of promoting political and economic freedom worldwide to life through its McCain Fellowship for Freedom. Created to honor Senator McCain’s long standing belief that “free markets are not possible without free people,” the Fellowship brings together young leaders from around the world who are dedicated to fostering democracy and economic freedom. These leaders exchange ideas with policy makers, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and other change makers to gain new insights and ideas on how to best promote democracy and citizen-centered governance. Since the program’s first iteration, IRI has hosted 16 global leaders from 15 different countries.
The Worldwide IRI’s McCain Leaders Fellowship for Freedom Programme is a prestigious initiative aimed at empowering emerging leaders from around the world to champion the cause of freedom, democracy, and human rights. Established in partnership with the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the McCain Institute for International Leadership, this fellowship honors the legacy of the late U.S. Senator John McCain, a renowned advocate for global freedom and democracy.
The McCain Leaders Fellowship for Freedom is designed to identify, mentor, and support the next generation of leaders who are committed to promoting democratic values and principles. The program offers fellows a unique opportunity to engage in research, advocacy, and leadership development in their respective countries and regions.
One of the central objectives of the fellowship is to provide fellows with the necessary knowledge, skills, and networks to effect positive change in their communities and nations. Fellows undertake individual research projects and engage in hands-on activities that address critical issues related to democracy, governance, and human rights. They are also mentored by experienced practitioners and leaders in the field.
The program emphasizes a global perspective, fostering collaboration among fellows from diverse backgrounds and regions. This collaborative approach allows participants to share insights and experiences, learn from one another, and collectively work towards advancing the cause of freedom and democracy worldwide.
The McCain Leaders Fellowship for Freedom represents a commitment to the values and principles championed by Senator John McCain, such as the protection of human rights, the rule of law, and the promotion of democracy.
