Dr Ekwueme has a close affiliation with Strathclyde, having got his PhD in Architecture from Strathclyde. In 1979, he was elected the first Vice-President of Nigeria.The value of the award is £5,000 and will be awarded as a contribution to accommodation and living costs during the duration of study at Strathclyde.

Dr Alex Ekwueme is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students into the Alex Ekwueme Commemorative Scholarships for students. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.
Applicants to this scholarship must hold an offer to study a postgraduate taught programme within the Faculty of Engineering from September 2022.
