The Les Margaret Awards are a prestigious recognition program that celebrates and honors exceptional women in the field of technology entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship. Organized by the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society, in collaboration with J.P. Morgan, these awards aim to highlight the achievements, innovations, and leadership of women who are making significant contributions to the tech industry.
The awards are named after Margaret, the wife of Pierre Curie, recognizing her pivotal role alongside her husband in their groundbreaking scientific work. The Les Margaret Awards similarly aim to acknowledge the often overlooked or underrepresented contributions of women in the tech sector.
Nominees for the Les Margaret Awards typically demonstrate remarkable accomplishments in leveraging technology to drive positive change, innovation, and sustainable business practices. The focus spans across both entrepreneurship, where individuals have founded or led tech-driven startups, and intrapreneurship, acknowledging women within established organizations who have spearheaded innovative initiatives or projects.
These awards not only honor the achievements of outstanding women but also serve as an inspiration and platform to encourage further diversity, inclusion, and empowerment within the tech industry. Recipients of the Les Margaret Awards receive recognition for their achievements, gain visibility on a global scale, and often become influential figures inspiring future generations of women in technology.
The Les Margaret Awards play a pivotal role in showcasing the importance of diversity and recognizing the invaluable contributions of women in shaping the technological landscape, fostering innovation, and driving positive change in society.
Annually, the Les Margaret Awards honor women entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs from Europe, Africa, and Canada, lauding their projects and innovations that address significant societal challenges.
The awards pay tribute to Margaret Hamilton, the director of the software engineering division pivotal in developing embedded software for NASA’s Apollo space program. Margaret Hamilton’s crucial contribution facilitated humanity’s first steps on the Moon, marking a historic milestone.
