The University of Adelaide Research Scholarship is incredibly competitive and open to Postgraduate Research applicants. The scholarship will be available for up to 3.5 years and will be valued at $32,500 (2023 value) for both domestic and international students.
Why Study at The University of Adelaide
The University of Adelaide, or Adelaide University as it is sometimes called, is a public research university in Adelaide, South Australia. It is the third-oldest university in Australia. It was founded in 1874. The main campus of the university is near the Art Gallery of South Australia, the South Australian Museum, and the State Library of South Australia. It is on North Terrace in the center of Adelaide.
The university has four campuses: the North Terrace campus is in the city, the Roseworthy campus is in Roseworthy, and the Waite campus is in Urrbrae. The fourth campus is in Melbourne, Victoria. The university also has locations in Thebarton, the National Wine Centre in Adelaide Park Lands, and Singapore through the Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre.
Adelaide has a lot of museums and art spaces, as well as events, live music, and festivals like WOMAD and the Fringe Festival. Adelaide is known for its food, famous wineries, and wine tours, as well as its many fairs and sports events (like the Adelaide 500).
There are three faculties at the University of Adelaide, and each has its own school. These are the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (SET), the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, and the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law, and Economics (ABLE). It is part of the Group of Eight and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The university is also part of a group called the Sandstone Universities, which is mostly made up of Australian universities that were founded during the colonial era.
About the University of Adelaide Research Scholarship Grant
This scholarship is available to support a full-time PhD student commencing research in the design and synthesis of semiconductor-based photocatalysts for solar energy conversion to clean fuels and value-added chemicals in Professor Shizhang Qiao’s materials engineering research group at the University of Adelaide.
Eligibility for University of Adelaide Research Scholarship Grant:
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia or international students who are accepted as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide and hold an Australian First Class Honours or equivalent. This student should have published at least one first-authored paper. The successful student is expected to commence studies in Adelaide by 1 October 2023.

Successful applicants for the University of Adelaide Research CSIRO Supplementary Scholarship will receive the following benefits:
